Our chickens are fed diets that are specified by our company nutritionist. Feed is supplied from company owned as well as contracted feed Mills located in the region and some concentrates imported from the Netherlands.
Various components make up the feed including cereal grains like Yellow Maize, oats, and sorghum; protein meals, such as Soyabean meal, together with vitamins and minerals. Although the majority of our raw materials are sourced locally, some of our ingredients come from as far as Europe and from the region of East Africa.
Our total requirement for feed at all the company locations throughout South Sudan is growing rapidly as more and more people are embracing poultry farming in the country for the first time in the history of South Sudan.
An average meat chicken will eat 5kgs of feed in its lifetime, which is approximately 42 days. Contrary to a widespread misconception, hormones are not used to enhance the growth rate in chickens that we produce in the Republic of South Sudan.
